Sugar Scars embraces duality and honesty on new album "Dark Spark – White Light"

Sugar Scars returns with 11 mind-blowing songs that break genre boundaries and tell the story of a brain inspired by darkness and light. The album "Dark Spark – White Light" unspools as a single emotional river for 32 minutes.

The creative hub that emerged when both sides of Sugar Scars, El Paso and Juarez, can be heard throughout the whole record. You get grit, mystery, sadness, hope, and experimentation in one sound system. From the first notes of "Sad Rain," you're tossed into a quiet storm of yearning and deliverance.

The gradual unfolding establishes the emotional clarity, healing, and acceptance of the album. "Dark Charm" promised that this project would be an adventurous one. Its evocative allure, in turn, links the duo's old ideas with the bold new ones they venture here. "Mermaid" combines sounds that are equally creepy and lovely with ruminations on life, fate, and sadness.

"Hum" has a sad glow, and the hypnotic dual-energy walloping clash of those galloping tribal drums and spectral vocals, coupled with that epic sea-breeze swing, make for one of the most memorable moments on the project. "Burnett Sedition" opens with pounding drums and aggressive synths, but soon blossoms into a brilliant instrumental odyssey. It's an ambitious film that still has feelings at its core.

The thematic cycle concludes with "Just Go," a reminder that healing sometimes means letting go. It gives this record the emotional depth it lacked, subtly robust, painfully honest, and completely transparent. "Dark Spark – White Light" is the most inspired work yet from Sugar Scars. It's a bold infusion of genres and complex stories for people, an essential channel for those seeking new music and for pushing the boundaries of their craft.
