Pioneers in Hong Kong's indie-pop scene my little airport have returned to enchant us for the first time in 2025 with their single "死亡賦格駱駝" (Death Fugue Camel).
Thick layers of synths and resonant drums fill this song to the brim with twee charm, while crowd noises in the background and a rough glissando here and there give playful accents.
Lead vocalist Nicole Au Kin-ying plays with a mix of speaking and layered harmonies, both signatures of hers that tie this song back into the unique take on pop music that her band has been piecing together since the early 2000's.
In over 20 years as a band, my little airport has consistently pushed the boundaries of Cantonese indie-pop, playing with subject matter and song structure in a way that was not only ahead of their time when they started, but still quite eccentric as we near 2026.
If you love a good pop band, listen to "死亡賦格駱駝" (Death Fugue Camel), available on all platforms.
