Are you a fan of hardcore who feels like you've heard it all? Maybe that's impossible—but if all of the newer bands are starting to blend together in your head in one big swell of screams and blast beats, here's something a little different.
In their newest single, "Twin Scissors," Portuguese four-piece Hetta combines a uniquely fun flow with technical skills to stand out from the crowd in a highly saturated hardcore scene.
Lead singer Alex Domingos has a distinct tone that speaks to both the screamo and punk elements of hardcore, with a playful viscerality that complements the heaviness of the instrumentation.
Sometimes Domingos sounds like a kid throwing a tantrum (in the best possible way), and other times he emerges as a sea monster bellowing from the depths of the Mariana Trench. Beyond those extremes, his energy is truly indescribable.
There's also something fun about the guitar arrangement, which jumps between chunky and musical and outright noisy.
Everything about this song keeps you on your toes.
To hear more, stay tuned for their debut album Acetate, set to be released on November 21.
