aftercoast has shared a new single, titled "Waterfall". aftercoast is the genre-blending pop project of Los Angeles-born Matt Walerstein, formerly of the duo Kingdøms, whose music combines chillwave nostalgia, lyrical depth, and crystalline synths, with a sound that's emotive and psychedelic. Following the success of his potent single "Abundance Love", aftercoast has continued to develop his sound with tracks like "agave desert" and "remedies & palm trees", leading up to his next album. These songs highlight his knack for balancing introspection with a sense of euphoria, blending nostalgic synths and smooth vocals into music that feels both personal and expansive. His newest single, Waterfall, marks a softer, transcendent chapter in his sound. Co-written and produced with longtime collaborator John McLucas, the song drifts like a lucid dream- an electro-pop reflection on change, release, and the calm that comes with letting go.
Built around cascading synths and layered, silvery vocals, and bolstered by an energizing rhythm section made up of refreshing drums and infectious bass, "Waterfall" is a hypnotic offering. Bringing a balance between vital grooves and relaxed, warm sonics, "Waterfall" builds steadily into an uplifting, memorable chorus. It’s a track that feels both both close and distant, steady and surreal- drifting between weight and release.
aftercoast's latest release "Waterfall" continues his run of versatile pop releases with a heartfelt, focused track that emanates a calm confidence.
