EDM/indie project VAAGUE unveils groovy offering “Talk It Up,” giving us a glimpse of new EP SHORTCUT. With rhythmic drum patters underscoring strong basslines and synth sounds, the track is fierce and catchy all at once as it immerses us in techno-tinged sonic vortex.
Speaking of the track, he says, “The drum pattern of «Talk it up» was stuck in my head for a while. It almost felt like a rhythmical mantra whenever I’d be walking out of my house. When I first played it on the kit, I could hear that bass drum being sort of a melody: that’s when I decided to add that weird bent xylophone sound on it. The growling bass that comes in every bar is an outlet to that obsessive drum pattern, adding a bit of rage to the whole track. I found balance in those synth chords that come in every now and then and give a nice nostalgic touch. Whenever I play this song, I imagine a West-African percussion group interpreting some Chicago footwork jam.”
An enticing peek at the EP, set to be an expansive and refined collection that pushes boundaries of UK-Garage, Drum & Bass and Post-Dubstep, the alias of VAAGUE and his carefully crafted artistry is one that has propelled renowned musician Antoine Pierre into Belgium’s EDM and indie scene with momentous success ahead of the upcoming EP.
