After the smoky seduction of Whiskey Hotel Tango (2023) and aggressive roar of Romeo Bravo Bravo Tango (2024), Oscar Bravo Juliett explodes open like the end, both musically and emotionally. The album plays like a last transmission from behind enemy lines, every track throbbing with tension and soul.
Led by Frank Rabbitte (The Architect) and River Rabbitte (The Femme Fatale), wht.rbbt.obj continues to blur the line between old-school soul and new-school rock grit. River’s voice holds the pain of Amy Winehouse, but Frank’s production and guitar licks bring the jolt of The Black Keys, a cocktail that is immediately addictive.
The songs “Broken Luck” and “Low Key” are soundtracks to smoky barroom blues, full of passion, heartbreak, and slow-burn rebellion, that capture the group’s noir spirit in miniature. In the meantime, “I Get Stuck” serves as “Aviary’s” emotional high point, haunted, confessional, and cinematic in scope.
