Australian act Miami Horror just launched a new record label called Temporary Pleasures and introduced TOGETHERNESS, their club-focused alter ego. Both arriving on October 17th with the debut single "Hard 2 Forget U."
This feels like the natural next step for project leader Benjamin Plant. Miami Horror has amassed over 200 million streams with tracks such as "Leila," "I Look To You," and "Real Slow." He's played Coachella, Governors Ball, Electric Forest, and Splendour in the Grass. Earlier this year, Miami Horror returned with We Always Had Tomorrow after a 9 year album break. Now he's building infrastructure to support other artists while exploring a different sound under a new name.
TOGETHERNESS is Plant getting back to his roots. He grew up obsessed with Daft Punk and spent years digging through disco records. "I had always gravitated to the feeling and ethos of house," Plant explains. "Finding a simple euphoric loop lifted from another decade and just repeating it in its simplest form. I liked how straight and to the point it was."
"Hard 2 Forget U" delivers exactly that. The track is sample-driven house music without the fluff. Just carefully curated loops and infectious grooves that pay respect to the golden era while sounding current. It's the kind of thing that locks you in on a dancefloor and doesn't let go.
Temporary Pleasures focuses on modern disco, French house, funk, and R&B. Plant plans to sign other artists, host events called "Pleasure Center," and curate mixtapes that showcase similar sounds. He wants to recreate the discovery experience that shaped his own career.
Plant built Miami Horror over two decades, with that experience informing how he's approaching the label. More importantly, he knows the value of community and giving artists space to develop their sound. TOGETHERNESS represents a different side of Miami Horror's creative output. Where Miami Horror operates in indie electronic and festival spaces, TOGETHERNESS lives in clubs and on dancefloors. Two projects, two sounds, same core mission of bringing people together through music.
The timing makes sense. Sample-based house is having a resurgence. Artists like Folamour and the broader French touch revival show there's an appetite for this sound. Plant has the records, the knowledge, and now the platform to contribute to that conversation.
