Emerging band NEEB gives an honest and bold introduction with their debut album, "Take To The Sky," a lush melodic adventure that weaves together ethereal textures, soulful vocals, and human rhythm for a boundless musical feelingscape. The album sees legendary percussionist Martin Ditcham, who has recorded with Talk Talk and Sade, adding a subtle yet soulful edge to many of the tracks. A fortuitous run-in between Ditcham and NEEB’s drummer in London led to the two doing six recording sessions at Ditcham’s studio in Brazil, an unforeseen pairing that furnished the album with its warm, worldly pulse.
Bringing further emotion is Jasmine Weatherill, whose beautiful vocals transition from a supporting role to a leading one. Having grown into a full creative partner within NEEB, Weatherill’s delivery is part haunting, part demanding, and it provides songs such as “The Way I Do”, “All Caught Up”, and “Brighter Day” with its emotional center. And each song bleeds into the next, as this record toggles between reflection and hope, a reminder of how adeptly Jade Bird can create immersive and deeply human music.
