Turner Cody unfurls a story of love and denial on "We Need Each Other"

Turner Cody delivers compelling offering “We Need Each Other,” giving us the first glimpse of his upcoming album Out for Blood. Intimate yet expansive, the track unfurls a tale of love, denial, and fragile self-mythology.

Beginning as a simple reflection on love and dependence, the half-spoken, half-sung production expands into a layered exploration of a working man’s struggles to find his place in the world. Painting a quiet yet unsettling picture of self-destruction, the ballad captures the raw, human energy of Cody’s songwriting at its most intimate and unresolved.

A revealing production where draws on the tradition of character-driven folk ballads, we’re led into the journey of a man grappling with his own obsolescence. With poetic lyrics, emotive vocals and an intensely sincere delivery, the track exposes the emotional cost of clinging to a worldview that no longer holds.

Speaking of the track, Cody says “I didn’t mean to write this song. It just came to me. I was thinking about how my wife really makes me a better person — and how all I really do for her is drive her to work (she doesn’t drive). There’s something in that imbalance that felt true, and human. Not about roles or hierarchies, but about interdependence. We’re different, sure, but we really do need each other.”

Recorded live in Brussels at The Free House studio with The Soldiers of Love and produced by Nicolas Michaux,  the track is brought to life in one take encapsulate hesitations and imperfection with equal parts of warmth and tension as it sets expectations for what’s to come.
