At 16, Siena Fantini has emerged with a body of work that is timeless and strikingly assertive for our time. Her debut EP, "what is it with me?," and now recorded at Altamira Sound, is a brief but potent exploration of the emotions, contradictions and revelations of adolescence. Clocking in at just under sixteen minutes spread across four songs, the EP exudes vulnerability and honesty and illustrates Siena’s incredible songwriting potential.
The project was brought to life by an impeccable creative team boasting producer Sean Hurley (John Mayer, Lana Del Rey), Taylor Mackall on piano (Lizzy McAlpine, Marcus Mumford, Joni Mitchell), Kiel Feher on drums (Selena Gomez, Lauv), Harrison Whitford on guitar (Phoebe Bridgers) and Grammy-winning engineer Darrell Thorp Foo Fighters, Radiohead). Together, they shaped a sound that’s polished yet intimate, with plenty of room for Siena’s voice and storytelling to shine.
Songs like “the love” glisten with delicate lyricism that stitches honest emotion into melodies that stick around long after they finish playing. By contrast, “poptart” explodes with youthfulness and irresistible effervescence to place alongside her ability to express sober judgment juxtaposed with moments of carefree genius.”
With "what is it with me?" Siena Fantini lets us not only into her secret thoughts, but the heart of a young artist ahead of her time. It’s an EP that sounds like an introduction to a career bound for depth, growth and indisputable resonance.
