Manchester quintet Marouli shares vibrant genre-spanning track “Don’t Wanna Dance,” offering a peek at their upcoming sophomore album Tall Tales from a Distant Uncle Volume 2.
Fusing poetic, reflective lyricism with bright instrumentals that sway seamlessly between funk-soul and alternative-rock, the track is built on anthemic guitars, buoyant basslines, shimmering keys and crisp percussion all brought together by commanding vocal delivery.
Speaking of the single, songwriter and vocalist Graham McCusker says“It’s about someone who is too drained to enjoy nightlife and wants solitude instead of forced fun. A common feeling many have in today's society! It’s also about exhaustion, socially and physically which is something I have had experience of recently when going through Chemo and Radiotherapy.”
Delivering an enticing glimpse at the poignant stories and expressive musicality that await us on their upcoming album, the album marks a powerful creative chapter for McCusker, who wrote much of the album after overcoming cancer for the second time.
Having built a solid reputation for their rich sonic and lyrical arrangements, Marouli are set to lead us into profound sonic world with what’s to come.
