British-Nigerian spoken word artist, Temi T, returns with a song that will tug at your heart. “Painted Intentions” leads listeners down a ruminative path of friendship, loss, and the discovery of one’s strength. Temi T's talent shines through. Through spoken word that draws on elements of jazz, R&B, and hip-hop, she creates a sound that’s at once intimate and expansive. Her music beautifully captures the emotions that accompany her story, showcasing just how much she has matured as an artist who is not afraid to express herself.

The subject of “Painted Intentions” is, first and foremost, the story of a lost friendship after 10 years. Temi T. reveals the heartbreak of losing a close friend, speaking to feelings of quiet desperation that accompany such loss and a struggle to tell her story when everyone may not see it as the truth. Her lyrics are scathing and tender in equal measure, exuding soft introspection alongside self-assurance. It is the sort of song that coaxes individual listeners toward introspection while also reminding them they are not alone in their feelings. If you are a fan of artists like Noname, Little Simz, Arlo Parks, and ENNY, you’ll probably appreciate Temi T’s contemplative style. Her genre-bending style lends even simple lines added weight, the beats and pauses conscientiously considered.

“Painted Intentions” is a time to pause and contemplate. It challenges listeners to look at their own relationships, acknowledge the pain of miscommunications, and also triumph in the strength that’s born from having endured. Temi T has created a piece of art that feels distinctly personal yet utterly relatable and genuine. Temi T cements her status as a brave silhouette in the current music world with this release. She turns vulnerability into power and unique sorrow into creativity, making art that people everywhere want to experience. “Painted Intentions” is a call to acknowledge the power of honesty, change, and the restorative grace of music.
