The debut EP from Stephen Sol & The 7's, “Sunshine Wine,” is an endearing look into their sound, one that’s a combination of folk-rock and sounds warm and feel-good. This five-song album clocks in at just over 15 minutes and provides an unexpectedly emotional experience, reflecting both contemplative and joyous moments. The first song, “Sunshine Wine,” immediately surrounds you with its warm embrace. Like golden hour sunlight transmuted into music, all bright horns and calming vocal harmonies. It’s an earnest recall, and Stephen Sol has the voice to breathe life into it again for those quiet moments of contemplation.

The second song, “The Moon,” is a wonder and longing tale with harmonies from Yasmin Wamala, Bema Tadey, and LEIF. “It’s a heartening anthem that transports you and evokes feelings we’ve all experienced when staring up into the night sky and connecting with those we love. The band, music makers come through radiantly during these two minutes, a tall order for such a huge ensemble. The EP's emotional centerpiece is the track "Forever Changed." This heart-wrenching acoustic ballad seamlessly melds Sol’s charged lyrics with soft music, all while bringing to light a blend of emotions, including sadness and promise.

The standout tracks “Spring (I Made It)” and “Hum of Love” pop with brio and sunshine. “I Made It,” a song about prevailing and arriving in the new with a sound that ranges from quiet, reflective verses to an ecstatic chorus that sounds like you won the championship game. Reserve Your Cabana concludes with “Hum of Love,” a joyful, rhythmically driving track that overflows with bright sounds, emphasizing love and togetherness. On those above, all cuts, you also hear the group’s chemistry.

With “Sunshine Wine,” Stephen Sol & The 7 can also be subtle alongside extroverted moments, and do so in just 15 minutes. This EP provides 16 minutes of joy, introspection, and hope.
