Alt-rock singer-songwriter Lia Pappas-Kemps has released her new single “Reservations.”
Shot through with a good dose of Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac blues influence, “Reservations” sees Pappas-Kemps ruminate on relationships and the common desire to refuse to see the truth about a person you have romantic interest in.
According to Pappas-Kemps, “[Reservations] is about misconstruing warning signs and choosing to be blissfully ignorant in a relationship, rather than confronting it. I wrote it by myself in my apartment in Montreal and recorded most of it live off the floor with a group of some of my favourite musicians in Toronto.”
Featuring contributing artists Dylan Murchell on guitar, Julian Psihogios on drums, Melissa Paju on bass as well as Pappas-Kemps herself on guitar, the track is equal parts acerbic 90’s indie-rock, pop diva-style wordplay and Luna Li-esque ethereality coming together to make a warm 3 minutes and 40 seconds that will hit anyone who’s been through it (or currently going through it) right where it hurts.
Having been lauded extensively as Toronto’s next breakout songwriter, Lia Pappas-Kemps’ reputation precedes her – in the best, most deserved way.
