“Popular Too” is Monte’s cathartic ode to being yourself [Video]

Brooklyn power-punk trio MONTE just unleashed their new single “Popular Too”, an anthem for outsiders and misfits everywhere. Known for their sharp wit, tongue-in-cheek humor, and a sound that blends nostalgia with a razor’s edge, MONTE keeps pushing their signature style forward.

"Popular Too" blends rock ‘n’ roll energy with a punk edge, channeling angst into something that feels fun and cathartic for listeners everywhere. With lyrics like, " And now and then I feel I’m on the outside looking in / and wonder what it’s like to totally fit in," lead vocalist and guitarist, Caitlin Montclare, absolutely shreds while her vocals carry the heart of those who have struggled to find where they belong. Drummer and engineer, Ismael Baiz and the multi instrumentalist Meghan Rose make up the rest of this one of a kind group. "Popular Too" is guaranteed to make listeners jump around, scream along, and feel seen all at once.

The music video leans fully into the spirit of embracing the odd, the awkward, and the unapologetically unique. Balancing humor, heart, and a distinctive sense of style, the video is just as eccentric as it is endearing. There’s even a furry cameo, a perfect nod to finding community in unexpected places. The larger theme of feeling like an outsider and finally finding your people comes through loud and clear as MONTE hangs with those who finally make them feel special. Weird in the best way, “Popular Too” is equal parts punky, heartfelt and fun. The visuals are playful and totally unique to the band's style.

Since forming as MONTE, the band has released projects and played more than 50 shows across the U.S., including iconic New York stages like The Knitting Factory and The Bowery Electric. Their sound is shaped by punk pioneers such as The Lunachicks, NOFX, Bad Religion, and The Offspring, along with heavy-hitting metal influences like Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Plasmatics. Watch "Popular Too" for an all out celebration of what makes us different. Being normal is boring!
