London-based, Birmingham native indie psych-folk riser John Myrtle leads us on a heartfelt exploration of love, heartbreak, and everyday life on sophomore album The Little World of You and Me. An eight-track collection rooted in the small musings on life, the album brims with a personal touch while still resonating with those that tune into its luscious soundscape.
Balancing ethereal sonics and intimate, acoustic storytelling, the self-produced album captures the warm, home-recorded essence of his songwriting across each track. Standout tracks like "How Do You Break a Heart?," and "We’re Tearing the Heart Out of Love," unveil the tender explorations of Myrtle's life, framed by his signature blend of emotionally resonant yet off-kilter pop musicality.
Speaking of the album, he says, "The album is a sharing of small musings on my life in the past couple of years. I’m a homebody really, and wanted to have an album that showed this. Love, heartbreak and dogs are the themes here, and I wanted to create a little world, a small painting, of these few elements and how the small things can keep you keeping on."
Carving out a place for himself in music since emerging in 2019, John Myrtle has continued to craft music that is simultaneously intimate and expansive, pulling us into a carefully crafted world where love, heartbreak, and life’s small joys intertwine intricately.
