Dublin pop riser Pastiche delivers feminist anthem “Body Clock feat. Celaviedmai,” from upcoming EP Femme Fatality. Produced with Liam Geddes, and with two Irish pop powerhouses teamimg up, the track is rooted in defiant but honest songwriting drawn from deeply personal experiences.
Written during a dark time, where she was dealing with an endometriosis and adenomyosis diagnosis, the track traces the complexities of the female experience framed by tenderness and strength in equal halves.
Speaking of the vulnerable yet empowering track, Pastiche says, “Body Clock came out of a really raw place. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 25 and froze my eggs thinking I was doing really well, and then this year I found out I also have adenomyosis — basically I was told I needed to have a baby soon or I risk it never happening for me. A few days later I had to fly to London for a studio session. I was totally shattered and it was the last place I wanted to be, but I couldn't cancel it. I couldn't hide my emotions so I opened up to Liam (my producer) about how I was feeling. I told him it felt like I had this big clock on my forehead that everyone could see, just counting down. We came up with Body Clock and then the song was written in one day.”
Encapsulating the pressures, fear and frustrations of feeling like your body is on a timeline you can’t control, the track is unflinchingly honest and unapologetic in a clear reflection of the forthcoming EP. A dark and profound exploration of the female experience, the project is set to span several intimate including body image, sexuality, infertility, and self-worth wrapped in a resilient and celebratory vibe that’s sure to be catchy and thought-provoking all at once.
A seasoned artist who has cemented her place in music, Pastiche continues to gain momentum with her introspective, bold craft.
