This is what punk music is, always has been, and always will be.
On their new single "Raught!," Zookraught is the voice behind the anti-establishmentarianism movement. It's more than just a catchy song with a wild groove and powerful lyrics, it's a battle cry with purpose.
The under three-minute number is packed with content. It's high-energy from start to finish, opening with the absolute slaughter of a line: "you love to wage war on those who can't take it." The song is about feeling crushed beneath the governmental power structure, unable to escape the Ouroboros of oppression and hate, suffering, and watching others suffer.
It might be optimistic to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway: songs like this are what make political change. They keep people active, engaged, and interested. Not that it should be up to musicians to rally the troops, but with such a constant influx of conflicting propaganda, music like this brings people together in solidarity. It could be as simple as: "you listen to Zookraught? So do I."
Hailing from Seattle, WA, the dance-punk three piece has been all over the world since the release of their 2024 album "VIDA VIOLET." There's many reasons why this band is special, but one thing that truly draws them apart is that all three members are also vocalists, which adds a unique depth to the call-and-response nature of the song.
Get out your angry dancing feet, and listen to "Raught!"
