Nashville-based indie singer-songwriter and actor Katie Boeck has released her new single “Dust.”
Produced by Shane Leonard (Anne Tivel, Humbird), “Dust” is a song about the experience of being ready for something new, while at the same time clinging to the basic wants of your old self.
A soft, lulling track, “Dust” features Katie Boeck’s warm vocal harmonies atop an extremely gentle combination of guitars, dream-pop synths, and barely-there percussion. The track feels like taking a long journey home, where the destination is making peace with yourself.
Katie Boeck sings “don’t fall asleep/don’t close your eyes/for I might just pass you by/and leave you to the ones for whom you can lust.” The song is torn, but the conclusion is satisfying.
Discussing the accompanying music video–directed by Bella Mazzola, Boeck explains: “We wanted to reflect on that longing with something simple yet ethereal, a visual echo of the song’s emotional space: vulnerable and yearning, but also beautiful and sacred.”
