The Warrington group Freight is demonstrating that their sound is designed for connection, energy, and life-changing live experiences. Their latest single, "The Only Thing I Know," is the second track from their upcoming debut EP, "Kaleidoscope," set for release on October 8th, and is already gaining attention for its undeniable sing-along quality.
Consisting of lifelong mates Luka, Ted, Jacob, and Anton, Freight brings the sort of chemistry only best mates since your toddler days can do to a band. Which spirit is reflected in "The Only Thing I Know," a song that wants to be heard and sung.
Frontman Luka Gunes comments on the personal relationship the band shares with the track, "The Only Thing I Know is my favourite song to play live as I teach the crowd the words of the chorus and get them to sing along which is always amazing to see and hear. It's a song we love to play live and has a real sing-along feel to it." And that capacity to dissolve the wall between artist and audience is the heartbeat of Freight's essence, transforming each show into a communal event, not simply a performance.
The single certainly bustles with an infectious energy, the perfect cocktail formed by an infusion of luscious hooks and a youthful exuberance, against a backdrop of anthemic momentum. It's the sound of four mates on the same page, playing the music that's in them, something you feel in their blood and hear in both their notes and their aspirations. Just seven months into the band's existence, Freight was already making the sort of timeless songs you could picture filling small rooms now and big stages in the future.
With "Kaleidoscope" on its way, "The Only Thing I Know" hints at what fans can look forward to: genuinely dynamic songs that transition well from the studio to a live show. If the second single is anything to go by, Freight's debut will be more than just a promising introduction to a band that understands energy, connection, and the kind of chorus you can't help but shout back.
