Craving someone else's attention while being in a relationship is messy, as Swedish singer-songwriter Zara Larsson describes in her new single "Crush." A clandestine relationship may bring adrenaline or even butterflies, but the risks are never worth breaking a home filled with true love.
As the track starts with a keyboard and drum beat, Zara is feeling nervous about chatting with her secret crush, but her partner knows something isn't right. In the pre-chorus, she brings herself back to reality and realizes she can't lose her love for a fantasy. After speaking with her partner, Zara knows it's best not to reply to her crush.
With her signature upbeat dance pop sound, Zara feels crushed in not being able to be with her crush, as she repeats in the chorus. Zara admits her partner treats her right, and she knows she only has a crush on someone, but it will never be love. Zara lets her crush down and tells them, "it will never be us."
The track brings the same adrenaline rush as sending a risky text and dancing the feeling away.
"Crush" is the third latest single in Zara's "Midnight Sun" album to be released Sept. 26.
