Another win for independent artists: on her newest self-produced single, yuniVERSE once again shows that it only takes one person to execute a creative vision. With twinkling synths and resonant vocals that sound like glitter and rain mixed, “in2 oceans” captures strength and sensuality in its rawest form. Her voice is buttery smooth, and wraps itself around your head if you choose to listen in headphones, asking, "don't you feel it babe?"
Reflecting the prismatic nature of the song, the music video stars the artist as she curates a dreamy environment for her sound to live in. Along with director Lloyd Galbraith, she uses a combination of color-changing lights, mirrors, and a rain room to highlight flowing choreography that extends its detail to the tips of her long fingernails. Though she makes it all look effortless, I can’t imagine it was easy sliding around on the wet floor with bare knees.
This single comes as the first release since her debut self-produced EP in January, and sets the stage for her future as an artist with a clear vision. Still so early in her career, this showcase of versatility serves as only a glimpse into what she can create.
