Grunge-driven and unflinchingly honest, The Quarantined return with their latest single, “Skeleton Chair.”
The story behind the track stems from frontman Sean Martin’s time serving in Iraq, where one operation spiralled into something far beyond its intention, leaving destruction in its wake.
The chaos that followed set the foundations for “Skeleton Chair,” with the songwriter sharing, “It’s a song about a person falling in love with war, and the paradox that that truly is.
Sonically, “Skeleton Chair” is a collision of raw power and layered emotion. The verses pulse with a near-tribal beat before exploding into a classic rock ’n’ roll chorus, led by Martin’s rugged, full-throttle vocals.
Foot-stomping guitars and traditional instrumentation keep it grounded in the grit of old-school rock, with no unnecessary embellishments distracting you.
“Skeleton Chair” turns a spotlight on the contradictions of war and the lasting impact it carves into those who live through it.
It’s a track that refuses to settle for easy answers, instead inviting the listener to sit with the unease, and sets the stage for The Quarantined’s upcoming album Aversion to Normalcy.
