Looking for a punk-driven indie rock song with edge and gusto?

Well, if you’re not—tough luck, because that’s exactly what this article is about.

Sun Grove’s new single “Park Yourself” is punchy, pun-forward, and so unapologetically angsty that it could’ve been playing in the background of 10 Things I Hate About You—if it weren’t 2025 and we weren’t all secretly wishing it were 1999.

Sun Grove is the indie/alternative project of Los Angeles-based artist David Loving—a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who emerged from the Philadelphia basement scene.

On the making of the track, Loving says: "'Park Yourself' started with the image of me sulking in the corner at a party when I should’ve been having fun. Usually, when I’m working on a song, I end up hating it after hearing it 20,000 times, but not with this one. I had fun with this one from start to finish, including the music video!"

“Park Yourself” is lyrically apathetic, playful, and packed with attitude. Loving commands your attention with a calm, composed vocal delivery that makes each line land harder—making you think, wow, he’s really not messing around. That restraint makes the explosive ending hit even harder, as the chorus builds and erupts into a perfectly executed scream-sing moment.

Sonically, the track is dark, groovy, and undeniably magnetic, featuring distorted guitars, a commanding beat, and warped vocal effects that lean confidently into post-punk territory.

Overall, it’s a potent mix of indie rock, alternative, and post-punk—served like a stiff drink. If you haven’t been introduced to Sun Grove yet, “Park Yourself” is the perfect place to start.
