LA-based folk rock singer-songwriter MacGregor Burns has released his new single, “What I’ve Been Looking For.”
A self-styled “Los Angeles original,” MacGregor Burns has been open about his journey to becoming a musician, supporting himself through a variety of jobs—from Hollywood tour guide to substitute teacher to water polo referee.
Having made himself a known presence through a variety of music video appearances for artists like Mac Miller and Moby (just to name a couple), MacGregor Burns has released “What I’ve Been Looking For” as the first single of his upcoming second album My Corner.
Produced by Luke Temple, “What I’m Looking For” is a soulful, aching, unpolished gem from an unflinching artist who isn’t afraid to be vulnerable and put himself out there.
Bluesy and sweetly uplifting, “What I’ve Been Looking For” feels like a dedication to someone MacGregor Burns has been searching for—for quite some time.
With lyrics like, “I couldn’t be more thankful for / what you take and what you give / I now am just starting to live,” the song is both straightforward and earnest—a genuine love letter to someone meaningful.
In an era where strong feelings are often labeled as “cringe,” this kind of emotional honesty is a welcome moment.
