New York City-based, Singapore-born dance-pop artist Kyle Waves has released his new EP Signals.
Mixed and mastered by Kai Tsao (21 Savage, Kid Cudi) of KLND Audio, Signals is Kyle Waves’ follow-up to his 2023 EP Fragments. The new EP is a musical step sideways for Kyle Waves as he switches focus to a danceable, house-esque sound with an emphasis on heavily choreographed music videos, as he takes cues from artists like Lexie Liu and K-Pop heavyweight, GOT7 member Jackson Wang.
A collection of songs that explores the complicated messiness of romance, Signals sees Kyle Waves unpacking a range of relationships — emerging with a deeper understanding of both devoted love and the emotional toll of toxic entanglements.
From the first stages of a crush to the devastation of a break-up, according to Kyle Waves this EP is an attempt to “encapsulate different moments of [my] personal journey with love and heartbreak and my inner monologue when I was experiencing them”.
Featuring the previously-released pop banger “I Feel Too Much For You” as well as the melancholic loops of “Thinking Bout It,” the EP features another four tracks, starting with the reverberating, heavily-vocoded “Make It Right,” the short harmonisation of “Darling,” the driving synth of the deeply-melancholic “Broken Soul,” and rounding the EP out with the dreamlike “In My Heart.”
Signals is Kyle Waves’ captivating and exhilarating journey through the pains of love — a feeling anyone can relate to.
