Folklore Vol. 2 offers a compelling new chapter for the UK songwriting collective

Folklore Records returns with Folklore Vol. 2, a carefully curated four-track compilation showcasing a diverse group of rising artists continuing the label’s mission to spotlight honest, emotionally resonant songwriting.
Brighton duo Nierra Creek kick things off with "Burn Out the Fire," a sweeping blend of lo-fi electronica and indie-folk, recorded at Abbey Road Studios and produced with Julien Fosythe-Lewis. Their sound, layered yet intimate, sets a tone of introspective intensity. Next,
Quaking Aspens contribute "Flume," a lush, shoegaze-influenced offering anchored by lyrical depth and immersive atmospherics. Produced by Jake Smallwood, the track builds on the duo’s growing nationwide acclaim, including recent BBC Introducing support.

From the West Coast, San Francisco’s Adam Spry offers "Tangled," a raw, DIY-driven piece that merges folk-tronica with warm, analog textures. An entirely self-written and recorded track it spotlights Spry’s hands-on approach and sharp melodic instincts. Then comes cinematic slow-burn closer Mezanmi’s "This Time Yesterday," which offers up a stirring finale with glitchy minimalism unfolding into orchestral swells.
Founded by songwriter Jacko Hooper from the depths of Brighton’s live scene, Folklore has grown from grassroots nights to a fully-fledged label and venue. Following the success of the label’s first volume—which featured Bess Atwell, George Ogilvie and others—the new edition – this second volume solidifies the label's reputation as a tastemaker for contemporary folk and indie songwriting, bringing together a global cast under one thoughtful, sonically rich release.
