TobySensey’s new EP, Reckless, delves into the complexities of human emotions. Across the five tracks, the Lagos-born artist blurs the lines between Afrofusion, R&B, and alternative soul, touching on his time living between continents and narrating stories that made him the person he is today.
The EP features tracks such as, “For You/With You,” a song which slows things down to explore the uneasy space between healing and vulnerability. Warm drums and minimal production leave room for the emotion to settle in. Rather than offering clear resolutions, the lyrics reflect the uneasy feeling of opening up to love after being hurt.
With Reckless, TobySensey shows that his music is about documenting life, and all its flaws. With his own independent label, Scatterbrain Records, he’s able to have full creative freedom while championing the stories that don’t always fit a formula. At its core, Reckless is a reminder that even in the midst of emotional wreckage, beauty and connection are still possible.
