Indie singer/songwriter Jetty Bones is back with a new single, “Housing Crisis.”
Released Friday morning, the song sees Kelc Galluzzo making a political statement in her first new release of the year. The single artwork features the American flag on fire, which carries multiple meanings when you listen to the lyrics.
The lyrics look outward as Galluzzo describes how she, her friends and loved ones, are grappling with the state of her country. She expresses fears of an uncertain future due to the U.S.’s housing crisis, national debt and civil unrest. However, she also implores people to open their eyes and stop ignoring all these problems.
The vocals fluctuate between being deliberately distant and clear in the mix, symbolizing how she evolves from trying to shut everything out to realizing it’s impossible to. The band plays every instrument forcefully, as if in rebellion against those in power. In particular, the drums are punchy and the guitar ranges from groovy to wailing.
Altogether, “Housing Crisis” is a great track that could serve as a watershed moment, not just for Jetty Bones’s artistic progression, but for a new breed of politically charged rebel songs.
