Based in Yorkshire, England, meet alt-soul singer-songwriter and guitarist Kindelan.
An artist so exciting and raw, her new single “Wish I Wrote a Love Song” beckons new listeners to discover her ethereal style. With lush and enchanting instrumentation, the track spotlights a guitar arrangement that mimics the ripple of water when a raindrop hits a wide puddle—creating the perfect foundation for her soulful vocals to cut through with ease.
You can easily draw a line from Kindelan’s smoky vocals to her influence, Lianne La Havas, yet her music remains entirely her own.
On crafting the song, Kindelan says, “I decided to embody this and physically build a ‘perfect home’, with everything in its perfect place, in the artwork and music video. This neat, tidy and cared for space is intended to directly reflect the love it houses. This same space is then weathered and destroyed, with candles burnt down, flowers dried, wine spilt, and books ripped, to directly reflect the neglect and disregard for this same love at the end of the story.”
The tone of the track, as mentioned earlier, feels like stepping into a dreamy alternate universe—one that’s reflective and emotionally charged. It packs a punch through elusive lyrics that break open with the line: “I wish I wrote a love song when you loved her.”
“Wish I Wrote a Love Song” is a stunning single that not only commands your full attention but also serves as a reminder of just how much emotion and artistry can be delivered in just 3 minutes and 8 seconds.
