On his new EP Hotel Living, Australian producer and DJ 1tbsp delivers a vibrant, cross-genre collection that solidifies his reputation for fusing intricate club rhythms with emotional depth. Released via Sumoclic, the six-track EP pulses with kinetic energy, drawing from French house, Latin influences, and experimental textures to craft a sound both distinctive and transportive.
The EP’s brightest moments come in “Wet Peak Stars” and “Rush (Missing Out On Me)”. The former, a collaboration with Mexican artist Meth Math, is a storm of syncopated percussion and fragmented vocals, layered into a dazzling, high-BPM rush. Its constant evolution and left-field approach give it an edge that’s both chaotic and euphoric, music meant for sweat-soaked dance floors.
Meanwhile, “Rush (Missing Out On Me)” finds a more introspective groove. Featuring cherry chola and Purient, it pairs crisp percussion with bilingual vocals and warm, atmospheric synths. The production is intimate yet expansive, capturing a late-night mood that feels both personal and universally relatable.
1tbsp explains, “Hotel Living feels like a zeroed in extension to my previous release Megacity1000… all the songs are very upbeat and to me feel like this mix between sensitivity and rushing.” That tension is what gives the EP its magnetic pull.
With a tour alongside Disclosure and major festival dates ahead, 1tbsp is clearly stepping into a new phase. "Hotel Living" proves he’s not just chasing trends, he’s reshaping them.
