Liverpool-born producer and DJ Bontan has launched his new label North Drum, marking the venture with his debut single "Forever" out today. The imprint establishes a dedicated platform for percussion-driven house music that champions raw, organic drum patterns and hypnotic acid-infused qualities
"I started North Drum as a way to spotlight the raw power of organic drum sounds and punchy percussion, all wrapped in rolling house grooves with a touch of acid flavor," Bontan explains. "It's more than just a label for my own releases — it's a home for my sound and a platform for like-minded artists who are also pushing percussive, groove-driven music forward."
The label launch follows a landmark period for the producer. 2024 saw Bontan deliver a standout Coachella performance, complete sold-out North American tours, and produce remixes for DJ Snake, Jamie Jones, Green Velvet, and HoneyLuv. His second BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix with Pete Tong further cemented his position, culminating in a top 10 placement among the year's best-selling Afro house artists.
North Drum features a distinctive visual identity developed with designer Ray Dak Lam, reflecting Bontan's Northern England roots while embracing global cultural influences. Beyond serving as a music platform, the label aims to foster a community of like-minded musicians, offering transparent partnerships and personal mentorship to artists committed to originality and innovation.
The imprint plans to expand beyond releases with an accompanying event series, creating a comprehensive platform for percussion-driven electronic music. With global ambitions rooted in Northern England sensibilities, North Drum seeks to establish its own legacy while supporting artists who "march to the beat of their own drum."
"Forever" is available now on all streaming platforms, marking the beginning of North Drum's journey in the electronic music landscape.
