Electronic producer tesh makes a stunning first impression with his debut EP, "CYCLES+REPETITIONS," now on San Holo’s bitbird imprint. At a hair under 19 minutes, the 7-track project is a story with a rawness that taps into existential dread and a technological paranoia that goes back to 1970s electronic music and synthesizer-led romantic melodrama.
The EP is written as if it were a concept film score. tesh welcomes listeners into a realm haunted by emotional collapse and digital rot, where love, addiction, isolation, and renewal pass from one to the other in a bad loop on a corroded reel. A shining track in “APOLOGIES” is homage to the UKG/2-step revival, with a hauntingly familiar vocal sample layered on top of terrible drums and mutilated basslines. Another standout, “ALL MY LIFE”, throbs with longing. It pings and builds in waves, reflecting the psychological push and pull between connection and self-destruction that courses through the heart of the EP.
Already earning accolades from Billboard and playlist placements on Spotify, SoundCloud, and Amazon Music, "CYCLES + REPETITIONS" establishes tesh as a fearless new voice in electronic music, part architect, part storyteller. On this debut, tesh creates a world within it. Enter "CYCLES + REPETITIONS," and expect to get stuck in the loop.
