Charlotte, NC-born standout MAVI has connected with the legendary Earl Sweatshirt for a refreshing new offering called "Landgrab". Marking the second collaboration between the two artists since the track "EL TORO COMBO MEAL" from Earl's 2019 project FEET OF CLAY, "Landgrab" further demonstrates the pair's kinetic chemistry with a soulful release that projects a joyous, yet thoughtful energy. Produced by Hollywood Cole and accompanied by an organic, focused video directed by Jesse Fox Hallen– "Landgrab" is a full package of sharply-crafted, introspective lyricism, heartfelt, warm sonics, and poignant visuals.
Hollywood Cole's production pairs immersive, rich sampling with an infectious rhythm section to provide a glowing backdrop for MAVI and Earl Sweatshirt, as they trade engaging lines that project effortlessness. Atop weaving strings, lush bass-lines, and steady percussion, the emcees deliver auto-biographical bars that add further relatability to the offering. The new video, directed by Jesse Fox Hallen, finds them performing in a green-space with subdued, natural lighting that further enhances the song's raw, yet laid-back feel.
