ANANYA delivers a poetic grace in new video for ‘LONG JUMP’

On her brand new single ‘LONG JUMP’, fast-rising London-based Zimbabwean singer-songwriter ANANYA presents an emotional self-reflection that floats seamlessly between memories and coming-of-age. With a gorgeously shot music video, directed by Eleanor Grace Hann, “LONG JUMP" unspools like a slow-motion epiphany.

ANANYA, who has been catching people’s attention with her evocative lyricism and genre-blurring sound, further refines her craft here. Following on from singles ‘Emotions’ and ‘Happy,’ both positively received by critics, and the huge streaming success of her debut EP' I woke up one night, ‘LONG JUMP is a clear progression. It’s a little more lived-in, like an open letter to the past, this time with enough sadness to make something tug at the corners of memory.

The production serves as an ambivalent counterbalance, dreamy amorphousness above a rhythmic pulse so steady it could be time’s own heartbeat. Her voice is a treasure trove of vulnerability, but she’s anything but breakable. Her softness is strength, a quiet defiance in the way she creates room for grief, longing, and the leaden persistence of nostalgia. But it’s the visuals that really invoke the song’s emotional space. Directed by Eleanor Grace Hann, the music video resonates the atmosphere of ‘LONG JUMP’ in mysterious brilliance. Each frame reflects the song's primary focus, from sun-dappled flashbacks to somber, still shots of solitude. Growing up often feels like a leap across an invisible chasm, always hoping to land somewhere that still feels like home.

Watch Video:

What is so satisfying about “LONG JUMP” is that it does not provide answers or neat ones. Instead, ANANYA leans into the awkwardness inherent in these in-between points. The places where childhood leaves and adulthood feels both liberating and isolating. It is a meditation, not a manifesto, a diary post, not a performance. On “LONG JUMP,” Anaya again shows she makes emotional sanctuaries. And for all of us who have ever looked back with a big lump in our throats, this one will ring true.
