Bristol-born, Nigeria-born, Bristol-raised Afro R&B rising star JAYLON is proud to stand with love and proud to declare his allegiance to the movement/celebration "Baby Boy," an infectious, soul-drenched six-track EP that chugs with the sleaze and groove of a dance floor confession and reads like a Dear Diary entry. At 17 minutes (15 minutes excluding the Father’s blessings), Babay Boy is a sleek yet broad project that solidifies Jaylon’s voice as one of the most genre-fluid and emotionally charged offerings in Afro-fusion.

Drawing from Ibadan, Lagos, and Bristol, Jaylon’s new music reaches across borders. Passing from country to country and culture to culture,  each of the album’s tracks is a warren of sound, its silky R&B melodies wrapping around Afrobeat rhythms, dancehall grooves, and electronic soul textures in an easy-flowing, impossible-to-resist blend. Working with an array of singers and producers from across the world, Jaylon immerses himself in the highs and lows of love, its yearning, and soul-searching.

Highlights include the emotionally wrenching “My Mind,” a hypnotic standout that deftly balances moodiness and melody. Another highlight is “Stay Ok,” a buoyant, irresistible tune steeped in pop influences yet never veering from its Afro-R&B bedrock, an instant fave that showcases Jaylon’s talent for sonic storytelling.

Above all else, "Baby Boy" is Jaylon’s coming-of-age story, a musical love letter to the cultures, cities, and sounds that made him. It’s a party of movement, from one country to another, one genre to another, one mood to another. Whether or not you’re dancing (or healing, or dreaming), Baby Boy is the sort of project that meets you where you are and elevates you.
