Fifteen-year-old New York–based singer-songwriter Amelie Lucille just released her debut single “Back to Her,” a haunting and beautiful reflection on identity and the journey of becoming.
Built on crisp, warm acoustic guitar and joined halfway through by the stirring violin of her high school friend Kenji Golden, the track is intimate and emotionally rich—marking a striking debut from a young artist whose voice carries the depth and maturity of someone twice her age.
Lucille’s vocals evoke shades of Billie Eilish and ’90s indie pop singer-songwriters, yet remain distinctly her own—marked by remarkable strength and control for someone so young.
On creating the single, Lucille says, “‘Back to her’ is a homage to the girl I was not too long ago as well the girl I continue growing to be. It’s a longing for simpler times and fear of stepping into new chapters as I steadily approach adulthood.”
The headline single, “Back to her,” and the lyric, “And I’ll run to you like I always do,” repeated in the song, express how returning to her innocent self remains a source of comfort.
This indie ballad is haunting yet beautiful, coming of age, yet can be found in each chapter of life. No matter your taste in genre or artist, Amelie Lucille is easily a singer-songwriter to pay close attention to and watch how her music develops as she further develops her sound in the industry.
