After building an elusive name for himself under a vast Latin music genre, California artist Danny Lux is back with a dynamic new album.
Palm Springs artist Danny Lux comes from very humble beginnings. The son of a hard working garbage man who brought him a discarded guitar at age 7, only to take his love for boleros and evolve it into a sensational “Alternative -Sierreño” sound.
At blowing up at just age 15, Lux has taken the past few years in stride but with haste; elevating his brand and embracing himself as one of the newest faces to represent mainstream Latin music while taking his time putting out projects and keeping himself grounded.
His previous album, 2023’s DLUX was praised for this fusion of progressive melodies with nostalgic stylings and it garnered him countless stages for a wider audience, including Coachella.
LEYENDA takes a step backward and really focuses on storytelling with minimal production, still continuing his interest in progressive regional music, but still keeping it honest.
Some songs rely and succeed on the sole intimate performance of Lux’s commanding vocals and stripped down guitar such as “instinto_natural_demo.wav” & “SIRENA” while others such as “2025” offer an insight on Lux’s curiosity as a producer. It’s a dynamic balance of embracing tradition while being open minded to progressive ideas.
DLUX ended on “HOUSE OF LUX” a notoriously House inspired track that’s moody and riddled with an infectious beat, and I couldn’t help but think that this album was going to follow that direction, but I think Lux saw this change and wanted to spend more time in an intimate space.
It was a conscious discussion to tone down flashy production and to hone in on minimal elements and it doesn't take away from the listening experience at any capacity. This is Lux having the world in his hand, but wanting to write about something that reminds him of home. While he has the instant access to Grammy winning writers and producers, he's writing music that he could've played at age 7 with the guitar his father bestowed him and it leaves a sense of excitement knowing he can go anywhere from here.
