Shawn Matthew sparks a bassquake with “Work to the Beat”

Shawn Matthew is here to fix that with “Work to the Beat,” a gut-punch of a single that doesn’t just ask for attention; it demands it. Released via 20k Leagues Records, this latest offering from the rising bass house renegade is an unruly blend of genres that throws caution to the wind in favor of pure, unfiltered energy. “Work to the Beat” is a sweaty, teeth-grinding invitation to lose yourself on the dancefloor, delivered with all the subtlety of a wrecking ball.

From the moment the first kick drops, Shawn isn’t playing safe. Gritty, chopped-up New Orleans-style hip-hop vocals give the track its streetwise swagger, while vicious dubstep stabs slice through the mix like razor wire. But just when you think you’ve found your footing, the trap breakdown comes swinging in, sharper than a switchblade and twice as lethal. The moment makes a crowd go from bouncing to full-blown chaos.

Shawn's knack for controlled madness sets this apart from your average bass banger. Fans of Jauz, Ship Wrek, and Odd Mob will feel the familiar buzz of bass house bravado, but this is an unhinged quality here, a calculated disorder that feels entirely Shawn’s own. It’s aggressive, playful, and ferociously danceable.

“Work to the Beat” is built for sweaty warehouses, packed clubs, and renegade sets where rules don’t apply. It’s a track made for bodies in motion and minds on edge, and if you're not moving by the drop, you might want to check your pulse. For an artist carving out his space in the ever-evolving world of bass-heavy electronic music, Shawn Matthew proves he is the beat. And with this release, he’s ensuring the world hears it.
