Singer-songwriter, composer, and performer Peter Salett shares an enticing glimpse of his upcoming double album Suite for the Summer Rain / Dance of the Yellow Leaf, with lead single “Waitin’ on a Rainstorm.”
A lush and cinematic offering with an introspective undertone, the track is summery and gently melancholic. Speaking of the track, Salett says, "I can picture being in my old apartment — that feeling when the air starts to get heavy and change. Your body knows that it’s going to rain before your eyes see anything. This was the first song I wrote for Suite for the Summer Rain, and began a creative journey that lasted six years.”
Crafted as one of his most immersive projects to date, the album makes for an expressive and free-flowing soundscape, elevated by an acclaimed ensemble of musicians including bassist Jeff Hill (Rufus Wainwright), drummer Bill Dobrow (Black Crowes), percussionist Konrad Meissner (Brandi Carlile), violinist and arranger Chris Carmichael (Taylor Swift), violinist Maxim Mostin (Anohni), violist Katie Kresek (Norah Jones), cellist Chris Hoffman (Mark Ribot), and french horn player Rob Jost (Bjork).
Having earned his place in music with his breakout song “Heart of Mine” in Edward Norton’s Keeping the Faith, Salett’s blend of rich pop and thoughtful poetic sensibilities has established him as a towering fixture in New York City’s downtown music scene in the ‘90s as he continues to build meditative and vibrant music worlds for us to sink into.
