Nigeria's Dahvi is back with a fresh single, titled "Samory". Since his debut song with 2019’s “Haneth,” Dahvi has established his profile as one of Afro-pop’s genuine bleeding hearts, famed for his grand investigations on the nature of love and romance, as well as the specter of heartbreak and betrayal. In 2023, he released his debut project, a five-song EP titled Dahviloen that crystallized his emotive, mid-tempo take on Afro-pop. Now, Dahvi returns with another emotive, vibrant song called "Samory", which demonstrates his refreshing, focused style with sharp songwriting and engaging melodies.
"Samory" contains watery, rising key riffs that rise above a bouncy rhythm section consisting of lively drums and rich bass, creating a catchy, colorful foundation for Dahvi's smooth vocals. He delivers soulful, hypnotic melodies that build steadily into a memorable chorus, while touching upon themes of the depth and importance of the experience of being in love. Regarding the song, Dahvi says, “when I was working on this song, I tried to put a collage of all my experiences in love together. I wanted to represent the absolute best of my experience in love and pay homage to how satisfying that feeling is, and as far as I’m concerned it’s the best feeling in the world because that’s how we are meant to exist.”
