Plastic Rhino dive into obsession and heartbreak on “TAKEITALL” [Video]

Los Angeles duo Plastic Rhino are all too familiar with the power of love, with the band built around it—both musically and personally. The band consists of husband and wife, Jack and Atara Glazer, whose mutual love for one another and for alternative hard rock music fuels every aspect of their work.

However, their latest single “TAKEITALL” delves into what happens when the love becomes too much and instead turns into obsession.

Speaking of how intense emotions can tip over into something unhealthy, Atara shares, “The music is about a relationship turning bad and almost… deadly. Love is a delicate balance between obsession and devotion. Sometimes the obsession turns to stalking turns to threats.”

This emotional intensity comes through in the sound of the song, where a throbbing beat and clashing guitars build into a wall of energy, propelled by crashing drums and fast-paced rhythms. Raw, powerful vocals heighten the urgency, while the lyrics carry a determined, almost threatening tone—perfectly capturing the track’s dark and obsessive themes.

“TAKEITALL” is a powerful commentary on the dark, possessive side of human connection and the potential for something that was once beautiful, to spiral into something dangerous.

Adding a more lighthearted tone to the single is the accompanying '80s Jazzercise-inspired music video, featuring the duo in wigs and vintage workout gear.

The duo explains, “Our producer Ron realized the tempo fits perfectly with the old-school Jazzercise competitions of the '80s, so we decided to recreate that in a class. We wanted to have the costumes and for it to look and feel vintage, but give it a modern vibe in the vein of The Substance movie.”

The contrast between the playful visuals and the ominous tone of the track creates an unsettling feeling, while also nodding to the band’s bold and diverse approach to their sound and visuals, highlighting their ability to merge unexpected elements in their music.
