Based in The Netherlands, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Inge Lamboo has been making a name for herself with her viral mashups and covers that she shares on social media, garnering millions of views. Some of those views are from names that we are all familiar with—Lindsey Buckingham, P!NK, and YUNGBLUD to name a few.
Recently, she received a message from none other than Pete Townshend from The Who, which sparked the beginning of her new single “Call Out Your Name.”
After reaching out to offer his praise to Inge, Townshend ended up lending his signature guitar playing to the new track, marking a momentous moment in Inge’s career and adding a powerful layer to the song that blends her unique sound with his legendary influence.
“Call Out Your Name” is from her upcoming album, This Is How The Future Sounds. The deeply vulnerable lyrics express an emotional struggle, as we hear Inge grappling with feelings of betrayal. As she repeats the line "call out your name," she conveys a sense of longing and a struggle to move on.
Inge’s distinct vocal tone takes center stage, effortlessly riding over a bluesy guitar line and plodding percussion that adds a steady, almost hypnotic rhythm. Townshend’s unmistakable guitar work perfectly complements the overall atmosphere of the song, demonstrating how their collaboration was clearly meant to be.
Townshend shares, “It was an honour to be asked to play guitar on one of Inge Lamboo’s new tracks. I follow her work on Instagram and she is making terrific Indie-style music with some really smart twists. The guitar work on her tracks is perfectly wonderful without me, so I decided to throw some mud at the wall – in the old ‘60s style, and amazingly it worked. Inge is a special talent, we should ALL look out for her.”
