Offering a refreshing blend of indie, soultronic, and cinematic influences, Lilian Hak's latest release "RESET" is a no-skip album from start to finish, however, the track that really spoke to me is "I Will Ever Be Your Head", which is a stunning reflection of her unique sound and artistic depth. From the very first note, this track captivates with its immersive soundscape, featuring a smooth bass riff, jazzy drums, and lush brass arrangements. The trombone and trumpet sections add a rich, almost orchestral quality that elevates the song, showcasing Hak’s exceptional ability to layer instrumentation for maximum emotional impact.

Lyrically, "I Will Ever Be Your Head" delves into themes of self-liberation, digital isolation, and power dynamics, drawing inspiration from Shakespeare’s "The Merchant of Venice" and Hitchcock’s "Rear Window". Hak explains, “The song’s protagonist refuses to be manipulated. I am not your fool to tag.” These words resonate deeply, highlighting a fierce sense of independence and the rejection of control, particularly in today’s digital age where virtual spaces can feel just as constricting as the physical ones.

The track’s atmospheric arrangement, with its dynamic blend of horns, guitars, and multiple layers of vocals, creates an emotionally charged narrative that perfectly matches the song’s message of empowerment. "I Will Ever Be Your Head" serves as the perfect introduction to "RESET", setting the tone for the rest of the album with its rich instrumentation and layered storytelling. This track marks a strong step forward for Lilian Hak as an artist, showcasing both her lyrical insight and musical versatility.
