tinvis makes waves with new single "Echo" from upcoming album 'Texnia'

Emerging from the crossroads of California and Texas, indie rock act tinvis, returns with "Echo," the latest single off their highly anticipated debut album, Texnia, due this summer via Mama Mañana Records. Built on a foundation of reflection and restless movement, "Echo" finds tinvis' mastermind, Joel Daniel, channeling the feeling of existing in two places at once yet belonging to neither.

With Texnia, Daniel crafts a sonic narrative shaped by years in the Davis/Sacramento music scene, a landscape that has influenced his distinct blend of indie rock. The album owes its existence to a grant from the City of Davis, CA, through the Arts and Cultural Affairs Fund, a grassroots initiative that has since injected over $50K into the local arts scene. That seed money has since multiplied, fostering an ecosystem where artists thrive despite an industry increasingly dictated by algorithms and diminishing live venues.

For Texnia, Daniel assembled a dream team of collaborators, enlisting producer Max Hart (The War on Drugs, Katy Perry, We Are Scientists, The Staves), lead guitarist Luke Reynolds (Guster, Sharon Van Etten, Brett Dennen), and drummer Eric Gardner (Tom Morello, Melissa Etheridge). Much of the record took shape in Austin, Texas, at Ramble Creek Studio, under the careful hand of engineer Britton Beisenherz (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Marie/Lepanto, Will Johnson, Little Mazarn). Together, they weave a sonic tapestry that blends the confessional storytelling of contemporary Bob Dylan with the textured melancholy of Wild Pink and Radiohead. At its heart, Daniel's songwriting also nods to the modern indie-folk sensibilities of Phoebe Bridgers, Ex:Re, Flock of Dimes, and Adrianne Lenker.

Offering a glimpse into the new album, "Echo" is a slow-burning reflection wrapped in layers of shimmering guitar and atmospheric production. It captures the disorienting sensation of constant motion, the in-between spaces where nostalgia and longing intertwine. Daniel's vocals are drenched in a kind of weary beauty, his lyrics carrying the weight of a traveler never quite sure where home is. There’s a raw honesty here, one that feels unguarded yet meticulously crafted, the way only the best singer-songwriters can achieve.

Beyond its musical depth, Texnia stands as a testament to the resilience of independent artists. What began as a $5K grant has grown into the Davis Independent Music Initiative, which has now distributed over $70K to fellow artists, ensuring that community-backed creativity continues to flourish. At a time when the music industry seems more fragmented than ever, Daniel is using his platform not just to release great music but to advocate for something greater: a space where artists can exist and be heard on their terms.

With "Echo" now available on all streaming platforms, tinvis invites listeners into the first chapter of what promises to be a compelling debut. As the release of Texnia draws closer, one thing is clear: this is a record born of movement, memory, and the spaces we leave behind. Keep your ears open because tinvis is just getting started.
