GRAMMY-nominated producer MARZI steps into the spotlight with his solo debut single "Dancing & Crying," released via freshly minted dance imprint Modern Delivery. The track marks a significant shift for the Los Angeles-based artist who built his reputation producing hip-hop for major artists, including 6lack, Swae Lee, Nav, and Travis Scott.
"Dancing & Crying" represents years of evolution for MARZI, transforming a melody initially conceived for hip-hop into an emotive house track featuring piano melodies and dynamic percussion. The producer cites Porter Robinson's Hard Summer performance as a key inspiration, where he witnessed the powerful emotional connection between music and audience.
His distinctive production approach bridges his hip-hop roots with house music sensibilities, incorporating custom drum kits to create dynamic, live-sounding percussion. "Live drum fills aren't unheard of in dance music, but I think they are underused," he notes. "I really want my music to have these live elements combined with modern synths and production styles to make something new and unique."
The release also marks the launch of Modern Delivery, a new Los Angeles-based label dedicated to "elevating creativity and originality within the dance music community," with the imprint aiming to showcase innovative electronic music to global audiences.
