THE HYBRIS drops a new revolution with new Album ‘t h r e e’

THE HYBRIS are back with t h r e e, an exhilarating 11-track manifesto that marries raw rock energy, 80s new wave nostalgia, and political lyricism. Released on all streaming platforms, the album cements the trio’s status as sonic anarchists bent on shaking the world awake.

It’s hard to imagine a title more fitting as from the rhythmic urgency of the album’s "Election Day" to the riotous anthems of the powerful "Call It A Day", "t h r e e" wastes no time in providing an unequivocal critique of modern society, drumming out from beneath a monolithic riff and unashamedly overt melodies. A tenacious blend of punk rock, alternative edge, and synth-charged hookw, THE HYBRIS captures a 41-minute adrenaline romp through our world of chaos and duality.

From Germany but now dispersed between Nice, L.A., and Cologne, THE HYBRIS, comprising Ringo Rabbit, Beanie Bison, and Malcolm Mandrill, press on with their entirely virtual, genre-neutral experiment in sound and storytelling. They are a movement. The name, derived from a Greek tragedy, is an allusion to modern civilization's pride and eventual destruction, a theme the group explores on every track of "t h r e e."

Kicking off with a kick-in-the-teeth guitar wash and diving straight into observations of political unrest, social decay, and the fight for truth, the album demonstrates the trio’s knack for message paired with melody. The standout track "Election Day" is a furious call to arms, packed with razor-sharp lyrics and anthemic choruses that feel bespoke for resistance. "Call It A Day" is an almost wistful yet soaring soundscape, meditating on disillusionment and the lack of purpose in an age of misinformation.

And there is no prettier plug to be pulled or shallower well to be drained than the blood this gets as a perusal of tracks suggests THE HYBRIS know every record that sped up from The Clash to Depeche Mode to Dead Kennedys like the back of their hand, and that they have washes of sound like all the greats up their sleeves. Their masked alter egos provide a theatrical twist, further cementing the band’s belief that music serves as a vehicle for change.

"t h r e e" is a battle cry. A revolution in 11 tracks. HYBRIS proves that rock has simply been sleeping, waiting for the true heroes to resuscitate it.
