Eli Iwasa reimagines Bleeping Sauce's classic on new 'What You Gonna Do' EP

Nearly a decade after its initial release, Bleeping Sauce's breakout hit "What You Gonna Do" receives new life through a thoughtfully crafted EP from Heels of Love. The package features a remix by original Bleeping Sauce vocalist Eli Iwasa alongside collaborator Mau Maioli, a garage-influenced interpretation from Capetini, and a remastered version of the 2016 original.

For the uninitiated, Bleeping Sauce emerged in 2014 as a formidable presence in Brazil's electronic scene through their distinctive fusion of post-punk, synth-pop, and electroclash sensibilities. Fronted by Iwasa alongside Marco A.S., the duo crafted standout tracks including "Sunday Monday," "The Alarm," and notably "What You Gonna Do," which became their defining release.

The EP's centerpiece remix sees Iwasa return to familiar territory, this time with production partner Mau Maioli. Their interpretation maintains the original's emotional core while skillfully transforming it into a more dancefloor-oriented experience. The reimagining balances homage with innovation, infusing the track with 80s synth-pop influences while adapting it for contemporary club contexts.

Capetini takes a more deconstructive approach with his "Garage Mix," stripping back elements to create a minimalist version that emphasizes select components of the original. The result is a warmer, deeper atmosphere that draws from garage music traditions while maintaining the song's essential identity.

The collection is rounded out by a carefully remastered version of the original track, allowing listeners to experience the song that started it all with enhanced sonic clarity.

As only the second release from the Heels of Love label, this EP represents both a nostalgic look back and an exciting glimpse forward for a platform quickly establishing itself as a home for innovative electronic music. For Iwasa herself, the project serves as both a celebration of her musical past and a testament to her continued artistic evolution within electronic music's ever-shifting landscape.
