CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso Tackle Fame With 'PAPOTA'

After breaking through the larger popular music zeitgeist, Buenos Aires based experimental rap duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso tackle internet fame with a new EP and a surreal Short film.

Over the course of less than a year, the rap duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso have truly built a name for themselves as a brand and as a creative force within music. Their NPR Tiny Desk Concert from October, 2024 released to promote their debut album Bano Maria but would serve as the perfect catalyst for the two's animated personalities and styles to shine through a larger audience.

Their performance ranks as the most watched Tiny Desk performance of 2024 with an ever growing number of 27,425,350 views and while the performance is still making the rounds online through the digital consciousness, the duo has decided to capitalize the 5 seconds of fame to showcase their real artistic range.

PAPOTA is a four song EP, accompanied by all five live singles from the Tiny Desk performance, but serves as the soundtrack for an outstanding piece of media. Their short film is meta commentary on their recent fame and success and humorously simulates what would happen if the two decided to go beyond normal means to win a Latin Grammy through a shady label head.

Through its 16 minute run time, PAPOTA takes place right after the Tiny Desk performance, with the duo dressed exactly from what they were wearing, and manages to poke fun at larger concepts; Chat GPT, Latin Grammy's, the toxic allocations of the music industry, drug addiction and the sensationalism of sex. All tied together with some enjoyable, creative direction. While each single serves only to surround the context of a scene in the short film, the tracks are all layered and well executed in their own right; making for the perfect introduction to the group's music for those too lazy to check out their pages beyond the Tiny Desk video.

The video in itself is very charming, allocating time for CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso to showcase their individual personalities and taste of humor, with some incredibly silly jokes matched with some breathtaking cinematography.

Despite only having four new singles, PAPOTA encapsulates the same ambitious artistry and dedication to style that's becoming synonymous with the  CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso brand.

Stream PAPOTA on all DSP's now and catch the full short film on YouTube.
