Stockport-hailing talent Natalie “Findlay” delivers a solid blend of fearlessness and nostalgia on her EP Stay Kinky. A seven-track project rooted in a playful mood, Findlay showcases sonic growth alongside a dose of refreshing charm and fun.
With impactful lyrics wrapped in her signature UK post-punk, alternative musicality, the EP continues to highlight personal yet relatable themes on growing and learning.
Speaking of the project, she says, “My most unserious body of work, these are the songs I’ve written over this summer that I wanted to get out straight away. I’ve really enjoyed the collaborative process of making this EP, it’s been very different to my last album I made in lockdown which was a pretty isolated experience and with some heavy subject matter. Recently I’ve been back to being in a playful, happy headspace and having a lot of fun making music. These tracks were mostly written between the English countryside and Los Angeles and took a lot of inspiration from those late 60s/early 70s British and American pop records that are deep in my musical DNA.”
Having begun her career as a teen, Findlay has released several critically acclaimed projects to date, framed by a dedication to evolve both her lyrical and sonic capabilities. Presenting maturity even as she weaves resonant tales of growing as a young millenal trying to make it in the music industry, Findlay continues to impress anyone tuning in.
